For a decade, the Daniel Karlsson Trio<\/strong> have cemented themselves as one of the most interesting constellations in Swedish and wider European Jazz. With lengthy tours of Europe and UK, a Swedish Grammy Award, and placements on Spotify and Youtube\u2019s largest Editorial Contemporary Jazz Playlists under their belts, their seventh album \u2018Sorry Boss\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>is set to release on October 6th on Howling Jazz!!!<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recorded in Karlsson\u2019s home studio<\/strong> on the Swedish Island of Runmar\u00f6<\/strong>, surrounded by the silence and darkness of the Baltic sea, Karlsson sought inspiration for the record from the minutiae of daily life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trio\u2019s sound has a wide spectrum<\/strong> of influences across genres. Described by their audiences and critics alike as playful and fearless<\/strong> of taboos, their Nordic melancholic <\/strong>tone blends with hints of rhythms<\/strong> from around the world as well as Soul<\/strong> from the sixties. Executed in an unmistakably playful<\/strong> and personal way, \u2018Sorry Boss\u2019<\/em> floats between bright head-bopping grooves<\/strong>, solo piano explorations of dense harmony<\/strong>, laid-back bluesy attitude<\/strong> and everything in between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Karlsson\u2019s writing is as grounded in a love for the past<\/strong> as a push for the future<\/strong>, it is their contemporary production<\/strong> style that places this record in an undeniably modern space. Vast reverbs, warm synth pads<\/strong>, and the sound of affected<\/strong> acoustic instruments take the listener on a meandering journey between the intimacy<\/strong> of three musicians playing in a living room to the immersive<\/strong> quality of boundless ethereal spaces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Daniel Karlsson trio will be celebrating the release of \u2018Sorry Boss\u2019 <\/em>with an extensive tour of Europe from September 2023 to March 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
